In the beginning of November, my younger sister Katie and I visited Mexico! It was a busy, amazing trip packed with lots of exploring, and I couldn’t share it all in one post!! Our adventures lead us through the ruins at Chichen Itza, a huge cenote (underground cavern pool), and some sights along the way.

We also happened to be there during Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), so the displays and memorials were just breathtaking! I particularly loved all the colors in their environment, their clothing, and even their signs. The general love for their country and rich cultural heritage was woven into everything we saw on the trip. Many of these people survive on little to nothing, but their attitude is so positive – they are surrounded by so much natural beauty and they make the most of their situation and rejoice in simply living life.

I love this post, Laurelyn! I grew up in Mexico and you captured it so beautifully… I especially love the image of the hotel staircase with the talavera tiles… so pretty! Makes me miss it so much =) You are so right about the culture too! I miss the warm hospitality and how there is always a reason for a fiesta =) Glad you had a fun exploring!

Oh my word, I’m in love with how the film rendered the shots of the Chichen Itza ruins! Absolutely perfect
