My Business Turns 5! // Behind the Brand

January 9, 2015

How is it that 4 whole years can pass by in a blur of pretty dresses, wedding bouquets, and newlywed smiles? I really don’t know! Believe me, it’s been anything but perfect – I’VE been anything but perfect, but wow has it been amazing. And so begins my 5th year in business, and I am anticipating this one to bring more growth, wonderful couples, and necessary challenges than ever before.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with 56 couples for their wedding day (that’s not including the other amazing families and individuals I’ve met through their lifestyle sessions). 56 couples that I’ve exchanged hugs with, laughed with, and shared in their first day of marriage. 56 couples whose story I have been able to tell with my heart, my vision, and my camera. 56 brides and grooms that, in one way or another, have been my type of people. Down to earth, authentic, deeply in love, creative + adventurous souls with an eye for detail. Exactly my type of people. Thank you to everyone I’ve worked with in these past 4 years, I would not be here without you!

What will Year 5 bring? That I’m not certain of yet, naturally, but I KNOW it will be big. My own big dreams combined with the even bigger hearts of all my clients. In other words, I can’t wait to live + create throughout this year. Refine my style. Hone my voice. Respect my own work/personal life boundaries. And most of all, give it everything I’ve got. Be a #GIRLBOSS (one of my favorite recent reads!). I’m not armed with a long list of ‘New Year’ resolutions, but I do have a vision for where I’d like the year to take me.

And what will this year mean for you? I can tell you for certain that if you work your tail off, put your heart into what you’re doing, and encourage others around you to do THEIR best – it’s going to be a big one for you too. Keep pushing through the failures, have patience, and grant forgiveness when you should (and even if you think you shouldn’t). Remember your definition of success is your own – in other words, cherish the victories, big and small, and don’t cheapen your triumphs by comparing yours to others. Pick yourself back up after a failure and keep trying. YOU are amazing, keep it up and this year is sure to be nothing short of epic.
