Getting to meet you!

Recently, I had a SUPER sweet out-of-state couple contact me about their wedding next summer. You’re probably thinking, what’s so special about that? She mentioned that the two of them will be in town in a few weeks and said it was probably quite old-fashioned of them, but that they would love to meet me in person if I was available. Well, you can call me old-fashioned too because I love love LOVE to meet couples in person if at all possible!!! I cannot emphasize enough how much this helps both of us to determine if we are the right fit!

Although I am naturally a more reserved and quiet girl, when weddings are the topic I can’t get enough! Seriously, I’m quite the wallflower, but when I’m comfortable {a.k.a. getting to talk to you about your wedding!} I could listen alllll day about you two, and also offer a little insight and experience of my own!

I wasn’t always very confident about my meeting clients. To be quite honest, when I began my business it was one of my worst fears. What if I got to a meeting and just completely blanked on what I should say? What if the couple thought I wasn’t dressed “professionally” enough?  OR worst of all… What if they just plain didn’t like me?! I found it to be quite a lot of pressure, until I heard TONS of helpful advice from Jasmine Star and other wedding photographer mentors about how to conduct meetings – having fun while also being professional. Then it was like a lightbulb went off in my head! I’m not trying to sell myself to people, not really, at the heart of it it’s about meeting people who have commonalities, being a great listener, and building trust the same way as you begin a friendship!!! WHEW, talk about a load off of my shoulders!

So now when I am fortunate enough to meet my potential clients in person, I feel WAY more comfortable because we are just getting to know each other in a no-pressure situation. Many of the same principles apply to video chat/FaceTime meetings as well, obviously, but let’s be real – there’s just something about sharing stories over a cup of coffee {at least in my opinion ;)}.

Ultimately, I have to thank each of my couples that take the time to meet with me and share their love story – whether it’s in person or online, it’s ALWAYS nice to see your smiling face as you tell me your engagement story, how you’re head over heels for each other, and your plans and dreams for the first day of your marriage. Cheers to you guys for your support and trust :) I’m off to meet one my lovely June couples that will be getting married in just under a month at Sugarland!

Alyssa + Chris {Delafield Engagement Photography}

The first time I had the opportunity to meet Alyssa and Chris was via Skype – thank goodness for technology, right?! With working different shifts and caring for their fur baby, I was just grateful they had time to meet with me at all, and we totally hit it off!! :) They are two of the most humble, caring people I’ve ever met, not to mention completely down-to-earth easy to talk to! Next month already these two will be exchanging vows and celebrating their marriage at the lovely Legend of Brandybrook just outside of Delafield, and I am SO excited to be part of their big day! Alyssa and Chris met me in the quaint little downtown area of Delafield where they trusted me to lead them around for their engagement session – let me tell you they chose such a great location it made my job a dream! We started off with a {much needed on my part} caffeine boost at the neighborhood coffee shop, and from there we explored the riverwalk and then a nearby academy with lovely old brick buildings. Thanks for the wonderful morning engagement session, Alyssa and Chris, and I’m looking forward to your wedding day in a few short weeks! Let’s start that day with some coffee too, huh?! ;)

Kelsey + Adam {Milwaukee Engagement Photography}

Kelsey and Adam met me during the peak of the fall colors, the PERFECT time for an outdoor session in the leaves! Their love is so fun and playful, and it was amazing to be able to document them. Being themselves. In love. I am even more exciting for your wedding next July, Kelsey and Adam!!

LOVED Adam’s plaid shirt! And below on the right is one of my favorites!! Kelsey…are you kidding me?! Gorgeous!!

After the leaf fight I had them lay down and catch their breath  :)  Some of my all-time FAVORITE engagement photos resulted!!!

Glad that Adam thinks I’m funny – he has a great smile folks!

Right at the end of the session Kelsey surprised Adam by bringing along their jerseys for a few frames! A thoughtful way of making sure Adam got some photos of them in their Packer gear – brilliant!!

Jacquie + Mitch {Ladysmith Wedding Photographer}

Jacquie and Mitch have been sweethearts since they first met in high school, so it was fitting that they were married back in their hometown of Ladysmith, WI! For their wedding, Mitch and Jacquie created so much of their rustic, beautiful decor for their celebration that fit right in with the northwoods location. I loved the bright blue color and birch bark details they chose!

We were blessed with gorgeous weather and the sun was shining all day  :) , and the entire wedding party was so fun to work with {especially Mitch’s nieces and nephew who were flower girls and the ring bearer}! I was so honored to be able to come along for their special day, meet their families, and be welcomed with open arms!! Thank you so much for allowing me to come along, and congratulations again, Jacquie and Mitch!
